The continent outlines never change — the projection math does. No image is manually stretched. Overlays are meaningful only when both layers share the same projection; otherwise you're comparing framing, not shape.

Discipline
- Both layers come from one dataset: Natural Earth 1:110m coastline / countries (via world-atlas TopoJSON). Any shape difference is projection math, not different geography.
- Nothing is scaled by eye. Each SVG is drawn from lat/lon coordinates by d3-geo.
- A flat map is never faded over the spherical globe. The Globe tab renders the sphere as its own view.
- Overlay is disabled when projections differ, because it would misrepresent the mathematics.
